Fifty-second meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean

The meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, was held between July 30th and the 31st, gathers government representatives to analyze the current achievements and challenges for public policy in the process of integrating gender perspective through mainstreaming, in the framework of international and regional agreements on gender equality and an agenda of equality and development.

The meeting was held in the city of Santo Domingo, in Dominican Republic, the country elected as Chair in the XII Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The meeting of the Presiding Officers focused on regional debate about, amongst other topics, the post-2015 development agenda, the Sustainable Development Goals and an analysis of the steps taken to implement the Santo Domingo Consensus (2013), approved at the XII Regional Conference on Women. Likewise, as a part of the preparatory process towards the XIII Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, to be celebrated in Uruguay in 2016, a draft annotated index of the position paper of that conference was presented.
