About

The ECLAC Caribbean knowledge management programme seeks to strengthen the capacity of the Caribbean sub-region to bridge the digital divide by furthering the establishment of the Caribbean Information Society and advancing the development of the region's knowledge economies. To achieve this objective workshops and meetings are organised, research conducted and advisory services delivered. As part of the programme, information products and services focusing on the Caribbean are developed and made available online.

A major product is the Caribbean Development Portal which provides access to current news, a digital library, development profiles of Caribbean countries and a skills bank, which is currently undergoing revision. The portal was developed by ECLAC to enhance the diffusion of knowledge about the current state of economic and social development in the Caribbean. As an aggregator of reports and statistics from national, regional, and global organizations, it aims to increase the visibility of these resources, and thereby provide a service for researchers seeking information to support development efforts in the region.
