The ECLAC Washington Office serves as liaison with the Government of the United States, the Government of Canada and international organizations based in Washington, D.C. Through research and technical assistance the Office contributes to the analysis of the economic relations between Latin America and the Caribbean, the U.S. and Canada.

The XXXVII Regional Seminar on Fiscal Policy is organized by the Executive Secretary of theEconomic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) through the EconomicDevelopment Division. It is sponsored by the Spanish Agency for International DevelopmentCooperation (AECID) and supported by the IDB Group, the Organization for Economic Cooperationand Development (OECD), the World Bank, and the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean

The sixteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean was held at the Centro Cultural Universitario Tlatelolco in Mexico City, from 12 to 15 August 2025, and focused on the political, economic, social, cultural and environmental transformations as a means of advancing the care society and gender equality.

Fortieth session of ECLAC

The fortieth session of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will be held from 9 to 11 October 2024 in Lima, pursuant to resolution 766(XXXIX), adopted at the thirty-ninth session of ECLAC, held in Buenos Aires from 24 to 26 October 2022. The meeting will be held in accordance with the ECLAC calendar of conferences for the period 2023–2024.

ECLAC's Executive Secretary José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs completes successful first visit to Washington D.C.

In his first official visit to Washington D.C. since being appointed Executive Secretary of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs was a speaker at the 54th Annual Washington Conference: Advancing the Business Case for the Americas, organized by the Council of the Americas, and at the Wilson Center’s event No More Lost Decades: Opportunities From Nearshoring, the Energy Transition, and Other Drivers of Sustainable Growth, while also participating in meetings with the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, Inter-American Dialogue, Global Environment Facility and Johns Hopkins University, with the goal of sharing ECLAC’s goals and priorities and discussing collaboration opportunities.
