Representatives of national statistics offices in American countries and experts from international organizations will attend the Eight Meeting of the Statistical Conference of the Americas of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (SCA-ECLAC), in Quito, Ecuador, on November 17-19, 2015, where they will analyze the statistical challenges of the 2030 agenda for sustainable development. Good data and statistics are indispensable for informed decision-making by all actors in society. This was explicitly acknowledged in 2014, when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics to promote citizen’s entitlement to public information.
