The Argentine automotive chain since the convertibility crisis: an analysis of its evolution and principal problems (2002–2019)

The aim of this article is to analyse the main characteristics of the Argentine automotive sector and its performance during the first part of the twenty-first century. The article begins by describing the essential aspects of the links in the chain. It then provides a brief historical overview of the Argentine automobile industry from its beginnings until the convertibility crisis of late 2001. El objetivo del presente artículo es analizar las principales características del sector automotor argentino y su desempeño durante la primera parte del siglo XXI. En primer lugar, se describen los aspectos centrales de los eslabones de la cadena. A continuación, se realiza una breve reseña histórica de la industria automotriz argentina desde sus inicios hasta la crisis de la convertibilidad a fines de 2001.
