The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will hold its most important biennial meeting in Mexico City from May 23 to May 27, 2016, where officials will present its 45 member and 13 associated states a report on its activities and will offer governments a reflection upon development strategies in the context of the commitments contained in the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Uruguay Will Host the Next Regional Conference on Women
Uruguay will host the XIII Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, which will bring together representatives from Governments of the region, civil society and United Nations organizations on October 25-28 in Montevideo, according to an agreement signed by the Uruguayan Government and the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). Situation of unpaid work and gender in the Caribbean
The unpaid care work performed primarily by women, underpins all societies, contributing to well-being, social development and economic growth. Care work involves a variety of domestic tasks, such as the preparation of food, cleaning, washing and ironing of clothes, the collection of water and fuel for cooking, as well as, the care of mostly dependant family members, including children, older persons and persons with disabilities.
