ECLAC Deputy Executive Secretary Antonio Prado moderated the panel discussion entitled “Advocating innovative financing solutions” at the Forum on the Future of the Caribbean on Thursday 7 May 2015. ECLAC’s Deputy Executive Secretary Antonio Prado signaled that if the Caribbean is to achieve equitable growth in an environmentally sustainable manner, critical challenges will have to be addressed, the most urgent of these being the high and unsustainable levels of public debt. The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) has revised downward its economic growth projection for the region in 2015, forecasting a 1.0% increase in the regional Gross Domestic Product (GDP), the United Nations organization said today in a press release. This revision reflects a global environment characterized by less economic dynamism than what was expected at the end of 2014.
