Port activity in Latin America and the Caribbean increased by nearly 60% between 2000 and 2007 in terms of metric tons of cargo
moved and nearly 130% in terms of containers, growing to 1.6
billion metric tons and roughly 32
million TEUs. Based on data provided
in the ECLAC Maritime Profile. This issue of the FAL Bulletin presents the main analytical data on port trends in the region.
