Carlos de Miguel
Carlos de Miguel is Chief of the Sustainable Development and Human Settlements Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), where he has worked since 2001. He directs research on climate change, environmental performance and economic instruments, among other areas. He also coordinates the work of ECLAC as secretariat of the Regional Agreement on Access to Information, Public Participation and Justice in Environmental Matters in Latin America and the Caribbean (Escazú Agreement).
He has published many books, review articles and working documents on various themes relating to development and the environment. He is an economist, and holds a doctorate in economics from the University of Valladolid in Spain, as well as a master's degree in environmental economics from the University of Chile. He is also a graduate of the European Studies programme at Tilberg University in the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
