Ana Güezmes
Ana Güezmes has served as Chief of the Division for Gender Affairs of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) since 2020. She has more than 35 years of international experience, spearheading efforts to advance towards substantive gender equality and the care society.
Previously, she served as a representative of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN-Women) in Colombia and Mexico, Subregional Director of UN-Women for Mexico, Central America, Cuba and the Dominican Republic, and Regional Adviser of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). She has also worked with the World Health Organization (WHO), the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) and the Flora Tristan Peruvian Women's Center.
She is a medical doctor with a specialization in community health, a diploma in international technical cooperation and a master's degree in management and government in public health. Her experience in academia includes her work as co-founder of the Gender Studies Programme of the National University of San Marcos in Peru.
