Rolando Ocampo
Chief
Rolando Ocampo has over 35 years of experience in statistics and geography and has dedicated his career to promoting the use of statistical and geospatial information for decision-making and public policymaking. He holds a bachelor's degree in actuarial science from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) and a master's degree in statistics from the Complutense University of Madrid (UCM), as well as a master's degree in education and labour economics from the Universidad Carlos de Madrid (UC3M).
He worked with the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI) over different periods, including as Vice-President of the Institute's Board of Directors (2013–2017). His functions included holding honorary positions as Chair of the Regional Committee of United Nations Global Geospatial Information Management for the Americas (UN-GGIM: Americas) and as Co-Chair of the Committee of Experts on Global Geospatial Information Management (UN-GGIM). He is also a member of the International Association for Official Statistics and an elected member of the International Statistical Institute (ISI).
He has served as Chief of the Statistics Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) since 2019.
