President of Colombia Juan Manuel Santos Will Give a Conference at ECLAC

The Foreign Affairs Minister of Chile, Alfredo Moreno, and the Executive Secretary of the Organization, Alicia Bárcena, will welcome the President.

(12 August 2011) During his State visit to Chile, the President of Colombia, Juan Manuel Santos, will give a master conference at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, an activity organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile and the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

The conference will be held on Wednesday 17 August at 9 a.m. and will be attended by government authorities, academics, representatives from international organizations and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Chile.

The Colombian leader will be welcomed by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Chile, Alfredo Moreno, and the Executive Secretary of ECLAC, Alicia Bárcena.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, María Ángela Holguín, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Juan Camilo Restrepo, the Minister of Transport, Germán Cardona, the Deputy Minister of Mines and Energy, Tomás González, the Colombian ambassador in Chile, Santiago Figueroa, and other officials will accompany the President as part of his delegation.

Juan Manuel Santos was born in Bogota on 10 August 1951. He studied Economics and Business Management and he did postgraduate courses at the London School of Economics, Harvard University and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.

On 20 June 2010 he was elected President of Colombia and will serve for four years, from 7 August 2010 until 7 August 2014.
