Within the framework of ECLAC's geospatial technical assistance line and with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), a technical mission was conducted between June 3 and 5, 2025, to the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Paraguay. The main objective was to support the strengthening of the institutional Geostatistical Portal, incorporating new functionalities aimed at improving the user experience and expanding the analysis and visualization capabilities of available information.
The opening meeting was attended by important national authorities, including the director of the National Statistics Institute, Iván Ojeda; the general director of Statistical Innovation and Coordination of the National Statistical System; the UNFPA national officer for public policy and project management; and the directors of Information Technology and Statistical Geoinformation.
During the workshops, the status of the portal's implementation was reviewed, software tools for managing geospatial and statistical data were evaluated, and training activities were conducted to strengthen the technical capabilities of the INE team, ensuring efficient and sustainable use of the platform.
The INE National Director thanked ECLAC for its support and highlighted the importance of the Geostatistical Portal as a key tool for the formulation and implementation of public policies in Paraguay. He particularly highlighted its use in strategic social programs such as Zero Hunger and Che Róga Porã, which use this tool to target their interventions and optimize resources.
