Briefing note
ECLAC’s work spans the full breadth of the Sustainable Development Goals, generating policy-relevant work that impacts the region and the world. This output is based on reliable research, a wide variety of information sources and access to a large range of electronic and print information.
The ECLAC Library is at the nexus of this research, working as a both a repository for ECLAC’s output and a source of access to authoritative information for ECLAC’s researchers. The ECLAC team of librarians, with the support of the substantive divisions, have created over 40 research guides on topics relevant to ECLAC’s work. These thematic, research-oriented sites gather a variety of information resources throughout the web on topics of relevance to the work of the Commission saving researchers valuable time. They include sources of print and electronic books, journals, RSS feeds, multimedia, news, events, and much more.

During open access week, it is important to remember that access to information is underscored in Sustainable Development Goal 16. As an advocate for the SDGs, the ECLAC library continues to promote an understanding of the benefits that access to information has in economic, social and sustainable development.
