26 December 2018 | Briefing note

An invitation to travel through the history and the thinking of ECLAC through its documents, publications and multimedia, available in the new Libguide developed by the Hernán Santa Cruz Library

New Libguide 70 years of ECLAC

On December 17, we celebrated the tenth anniversary in which the ECLAC Library was named in honour of Mr. Hernán Santa Cruz, a prominent diplomat and Ambassador of Chile to the United Nations.

Within the framework of this event, the Libguide "70 years of ECLAC and Cepal thought" was prepared based on a selection of bibliographic material made by the Library for the Exhibition that was launched in February 2018. The Libguide is enriched with other documents and iconic publications. There are moving images, articles, interviews and videos that help us to move through the different stages of the history and thinking of ECLAC.

The Libguide reviews the previous years of the creation of ECLAC in 1948 of speeches and documents by Hernán Santa Cruz, and then travels from the 50s to the 2000s, through various position papers that represented the ideas of ECLAC in the face of the challenges within Latin American development.

A special section is dedicated to the Heritage Building that has been the "home" to the institutional and intellectual legacy of ECLAC.
