United Nations inter-agency meeting to strengthen cooperation on official statistics

Within the framework of the XIII Statistical Conference of the Americas, United Nations agencies in the region met at ECLAC headquarters to review joint progress, align priorities, and coordinate actions aimed at supporting countries in strengthening their statistical systems.
In the context of the Thirteenth Meeting of the Statistical Conference of the Americas of ECLAC, and maintaining the tradition of promoting collaboration in regional forums, the Statistics and Data Group of the Regional Collaboration Platform (RCP) for Latin America and the Caribbean met on November 26, 2025, at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago, Chile, to review the progress of its work plan.
During the session, the importance of strengthening the dissemination of technical assistance activities through official channels for monitoring the 2030 Agenda in Latin America and the Caribbean was emphasized. This measure aims to facilitate joint planning and respond in a coordinated manner to the needs of countries regarding SDG indicators and statistical operations in general.
Furthermore, shared methodological challenges were identified among the various United Nations Agencies, Funds, and Programs in the region, with a view to promoting synergistic initiatives and the exchange of best practices in the field of statistics.
The meeting was attended by representatives from the following United Nations System entities:
