ECLAC Will Launch its Annual Report “Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean 2025”
Work area(s)
The 77th edition of the institution’s oldest report will be unveiled at a press conference led by the United Nations regional body’s Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, next Tuesday, August 5 in Santiago, Chile.
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will release next Tuesday, August 5 its Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean 2025. Resource mobilization to finance development, the institution’s oldest flagship annual economic report -published since 1949- in which it takes stock of the region’s economies and updates its growth estimates for each country in 2025 and 2026.
In this 77th edition corresponding to 2025, the report summarizes the regional economic performance in 2024 and analyzes its evolution during the first months of 2025, while presenting economic growth projections for this year and 2026. It highlights the external and internal factors influencing the economic performance of the region, which will determine economic growth in the following years.
In addition to examining the macroeconomic situation, the second part of the Economic Survey 2025 takes a special look at the mobilization of resources for financing development in an increasingly complex and challenging international context. In this regard, the chapters presented by ECLAC in this document served as the technical and analytical basis for its participation in the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development, held recently in Seville (Spain), which reaffirmed the international community's commitment to the aspirations of sustainable development and to increasing its financing, especially in the face of growing geopolitical tensions, economic challenges and environmental crises.
The report – prepared each year by ECLAC’s Economic Development Division – will be presented during a hybrid (in-person and virtual) press conference at the organization’s central headquarters in Santiago, Chile at 11 a.m. local time (UTC/GMT -4), led by its Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.
Members of the media are invited to participate in this press conference, which will be held in ECLAC’s building (Av. Dag Hammarskjöld 3477, Vitacura, Santiago, Chile, Celso Furtado conference room). Journalists must have their media credentials or IDs with them to gain entry and must get accredited in advance by sending an email to prensa@cepal.org.

The press conference will also be transmitted online via the institution’s website, at https://live.cepal.org/ and on its social media accounts on X (@cepal_onu) and Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/cepal.onu). Journalists are requested to submit their questions by email ahead of time to conferenciaprensa@cepal.org, and ECLAC’s experts will respond to them during the presentation of the document. The information presented will be updated to June 30, 2025.
