The School of Latin American Development Studies (ELADES) of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) launched the application period for the twenty-sixth edition of its Development Policy Studies Program for Latin America and the Caribbean, which will run from July 10 to August 29, 2025 at the Commission’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile.

Those interested in applying can register online from now until March 31. A list of the people selected to participate will be sent by email and published on the ELADES website on April 4. Priority will be given to students who have recently completed their undergraduate studies or are engaged in postgraduate studies, especially in the fields of economics, social sciences and the humanities.

The Program is structured around six modules: introduction to comprehensive development, human development, social development, economic development, political development and sustainable development. Classes will be held Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Students can spend the rest of the day at the Hernán Santa Cruz Library to work on their research.

Registration and the course itself are free of charge, but participants are responsible for their travel to Santiago and their accommodation and living expenses. The classes – primarily taught in Spanish – are led by researchers on staff at ECLAC as well as by prestigious professors from various universities in Latin America and the Caribbean and elsewhere in the world.

Every year, ELADES-ECLAC brings together young researchers and undergraduate and/or graduate degree holders interested in studying the Latin American development process. More than 700 students from 35 countries and different universities around the world have attended this Program (previously known as Summer School) since its creation in 2000.

More information about the application requirements can be found on the ELADES website.
