Join this webinar where challenges and opportunities for the region will be discussed to move towards the consolidation of universal, comprehensive, sustainable, and resilient social protection systems, and their contribution to eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, and overcoming development traps, all on the path to the Second World Summit on Social Development in 2025.
The 2024 edition of the Social Panorama of Latin America and the Caribbean examines the challenges of non-contributory social protection policies to contribute to the achievement of inclusive social development in the region in a context of transformations and crises. Over the last few decades, the region has made significant progress in building social protection systems, particularly in expanding non-contributory social protection policies. However, significant gaps remain in their coverage, the sufficiency of their entitlements, and their financial sustainability. This hinders the consolidation of universal, comprehensive, sustainable, and resilient social protection systems and their contribution to eradicating poverty, reducing inequalities, and overcoming development traps in the region. To address these challenges, it will be key to strengthen policy design, advance towards the definition of a social investment standard for non-contributory social protection, and address weaknesses in social institutional frameworks. On the road to the 2025 United Nations Second World Summit on Social Development, identifying the region's challenges and opportunities to move in this direction is crucial. This webinar aims to delve into this topic with leading regional and global experts.
