The regional Commission’s Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena, will hold a press conference on Tuesday 22 March in Santiago, Chile.

On Tuesday 22 March, the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will launch its annual report Social Panorama of Latin America 2015, which outlines recent trends in poverty, extreme poverty, income distribution and social spending in Latin America, as well as other social indicators.

The ECLAC Executive Secretary, Alicia Bárcena, will present the study at a press conference at 11:00 a.m. at the Commission’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile. The launch will be broadcast live online through the ECLAC website: ://www.cepal.org/en/eclac-live-2.

The 2015 edition of the document examines the challenges for the region associated with demographic transition, as well as persistent labour market gaps and difficulties relating to productive and labour inclusion policies and programmes.

There is also a chapter on social development institutions and the creation of comprehensive care systems as a basic pillar of social protection in Latin America.
