Announcement
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), the Development Centre of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and the European Commission, will present next Friday 15 December a new edition of their traditional annual report “Latin American Economic Outlook 2023: Investing in Sustainable Development” (known as LEO by its English acronym), at the United Nations regional commission’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
Latin America and the Caribbean needs an ambitious and comprehensive investment agenda to embark on a stronger and more sustainable development trajectory. The 16th edition of the Latin American Economic Outlook (LEO): Investing in Sustainable Development argues that, it is essential to scale up domestic and foreign investment and overcome the region’s structural challenges. These investments should be a catalyst for better quality jobs and an upgraded production structure. The report proposes ways to make this possible through co-ordinated actions by policy makers, the private sector and international partners.
The launching event will be held from 09:00 to 11:00 a.m. local time in Chile (UTC/GMT -3:00). Panellists participating in the launch include:

• José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of ECLAC

• Julián Suárez Migliozzi, Country Representative Chile, Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF)
A discussion panel will follow, with the participation of Nicolás Grau, Minister of Economy, Development and Tourism of Chile*; Jorge Iván González, Minister, Director of the National Department of Planning, Colombia; and João Rossi, Director for International Organizations and Development, Ministry of Planning and Budget, Brazil, among other authorities and experts.
Members of the media are invited to attend the launch at ECLAC’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile (Av. Dag Hammarskjöld 3477, Vitacura, Santiago, Celso Furtado conference room).
