Åsmund Aukrust will speak at the United Nations organization’s central headquarters in Santiago on Tuesday, July 15, in the context of an official visit to Chile.

The Minister of International Development of Norway, Åsmund Aukrust, will give a lecture on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago, Chile, where he will be received by the Executive Secretary of the United Nations regional organization, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.

At 11 a.m. local time in Chile (UTC/GMT -4) the Norwegian authority will make a presentation as part of the high-level panel entitled “Multilateralism and Reforms: Building Bridges, Sustaining Impact, and Protecting Rights.” His presentation will be followed by comments from Gloria de la Fuente González, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Chile; Peter Camino Cannock, Ambassador of Peru to Chile; Laura Moreno Rodríguez, Ambassador of Mexico to Chile; and José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of ECLAC.

Åsmund Aukrust has served as Norway’s Minister of International Development since February 2025. Previously, he was Vice President of the Workers’ Youth League (AUF) from 2010 to 2014, and he has been a member of the Norwegian Parliament representing the county of Akershus since 2013.
