Representatives of government, the private sector, the technical community and civil society will participate on November 16-18, 2022 in the Eighth Ministerial Conference on the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean, which will take place in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The Conference, organized by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Government of Uruguay, through the Agency for the Development of Electronic Government and the Information and Knowledge Society (Agesic), aims to define a set of policy priorities at the regional level to drive digital transformation with a vision of sustainable development, in the framework of the Digital Agenda for Latin America and the Caribbean (eLAC 2024).
The inauguration will take place on Wednesday, November 16 at 10 a.m. local time in Uruguay (GMT-3) and will feature the participation of the Presidency of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay; José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, Executive Secretary of ECLAC; Pablo Ruíz Hiebra, United Nations Resident Coordinator in Uruguay; and Hebert Paguas, Executive Director of Agesic.
After the opening session, ECLAC’s Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, will present a position document entitled A digital path for the sustainable development of Latin America and the Caribbean.
