According to Ms. Bárcena "The region needs a more active and diverse information society with more communication internally and between public and private stakeholders", and she highlighted the work of this initiative that brings together seven Internet agencies from the Americas.

Raúl Echeberría declared "It is an honour for LACNIC and all member organizations of the Internet Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean to receive a visit from Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of ECLAC. Promoting our region's economic and social development is at the heart of the work carried out by our organizations, and this meeting helps us to forge closer links for the joint work of our agencies.  We are proud of having the opportunity to show and share the innovative and unique collaborative experience of the Internet Hub".

The Internet Hub for Latin America and the Caribbean brings together the headquarters of the following organizations linked to the development of telecommunications, Internet and information and communications technologies in the region: LACNIC, AHCIET, Internet Society, RedCLARA - Latin American Cooperation of Advanced Networks, Latin America and the Caribbean ccTLDs Organization (LACTLD), Latin American and Caribbean Internet Exchange Point Operators Association (LAC-IX) and the Latin American and Caribbean Federation for Internet and Electronic Commerce (eCOM-LAC).
