The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will release the 2018 edition of its annual report Foreign Direct Investment in Latin America and the Caribbean on Thursday, July 5, at 11 a.m. (GMT –5) at its Subregional Headquarters in Mexico, in Mexico City.
The report, which contains updated 2017 figures for the countries of the region reported through early June of this year, will be unveiled at a press conference led by the Executive Secretary of the United Nations regional organization, Alicia Bárcena. The launch will also be transmitted live on the Internet.
The 2018 edition of this document includes four chapters that present an overview of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Latin America in light of tensions in globalization; an analysis of advanced manufacturing sectors in Mexico dominated by transnational companies; the evolution of export platforms in Central America and the Dominican Republic, given global pressures; and the role of the European Union as the main source of quality foreign investment for Latin America and the Caribbean.
