Press Release
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present its annual report Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean 2019 on Wednesday, July 31, at 11 a.m. (GMT -4) at the organization’s headquarters in Santiago, Chile.
The report, which will provide updated economic growth projections for the countries of the region, will be unveiled at a press conference led by the Executive Secretary of the United Nations regional organization, Alicia Bárcena. The launch will also be transmitted live via the Internet on the institution’s website (www.cepal.org).
The Economic Survey of Latin America and the Caribbean is one of ECLAC’s annual publications with the longest tradition and is published since 1948. It analyzes the region’s economic performance during the first half of the year and lays out the prospects for the coming months.
The second section of the Economic Survey will discuss the changes in the structure of the financial system and their implications. It will also examine different approaches to study the potential vulnerabilities that Latin American and Caribbean countries are facing, and reviews the transmission mechanisms and challenges to evaluate the vulnerability before external shocks.
Members of the media are invited to attend this press conference at ECLAC’s Headquarters in Santiago, Chile (Av. Dag Hammarskjöld 3477, Vitacura). Journalists and graphic reporters must have their media credentials or their identity documents with them to gain entry. They should also accreditate themselves in advance writing to prensa@cepal.org.
An electronic version of the complete document, including economic analysis fact sheets for each of the region’s countries, and a press release will be available on ECLAC’s web site on Wednesday, July 31, as soon as the press conference has ended.
