On August 26th, "Umoja´s Open house" was held in the reading room of CRIDD for the Subregional Headquarters of ECLAC / Mexico. 67 days to the implementation, working spaces were organized to explain different issues, such as Blackout period, the existent resources to support Umoja´s users, the Gantt chart of activities before D-day, among others and involve all staff in such a major change for the organization, in an informal event in which there were snacks and a raffle. This document synthesizes the most pertinent findings of a survey of over 41 container terminals around the world of which 30 are located in Latin America and the Caribbean and represent 1/3 of the regional annual container throughput in 2014. The results are part of a global study on energy consumption in terminals and ports of all kinds. ECLAC updates every year its ranking of container port throughput, which shows the cargo volume in containers in 120 ports of the region, based on data obtained directly from port authorities and terminal operators. In 2014 this activity grew 1.3%, with a total volume of approximately 47 million TEU. This infographic displays the first 20 ports of the ranking.…
