ECLAC Subregional headquarters for the Caribbean, in collaboration with the Division for Gender Affairs of ECLAC headquarters, is conducting a Study on Gender Mainstreaming in National Development Planning in the Caribbean and convening a Workshop on this topic, with the support of UN-Women and UNFPA. The Workshop will serve as a platform to address the importance of including a gender perspective in sustainable development planning in the subregion, especially in the context of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the 17 Sustainable Development Goals. This initiative responds to the request made by Caribbean countries at the Fifty-Seventh meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women, held in July 2018, and will contribute to the follow-up on the implementation of the Montevideo Strategy for the Implementation of the Regional Gender Agenda within the Sustainable Development Framework by 2030 and the preparatory process for the upcoming XIV session of the Regional Conference on Women in the subregion.
This initiative is also part of a broader ECLAC project, funded by the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), under its 2018-2020 programme on Planning, Statistics and Financing for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, with the expected results of strengthening the institutional capacities of Latin American and Caribbean countries in the areas of planning, statistics and financing, through an integrated perspective, for the implementation and follow-up of the Agenda 2030 for Sustainable Development.
