The meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean was held in Trinidad and Tobago by the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs. At this, their forty-third meeting, the Presiding Officers examined the main challenges identified by member countries as part of the preparatory process for the eleventh session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, scheduled to be held in Brasilia in 2010. The member countries and observers attending the meeting also had the opportunity to take stock of the progress made in setting up the Gender Equality Observatory for Latin America and the Caribbean.
