The Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean was held their fifty-third meeting from 26 to 28 January 2016 at the headquarters of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) in Santiago.

The fifty-third meeting of the Presiding Officers was focus on the ad-hoc regional consultation for Latin America and the Caribbean in preparation for the sixtieth session of the Commission on the Status of Women.

In addition, the Presiding Officers was focus on the preparations for the thirteenth session of the Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean and examine the activities conducted since the fifty-second meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Women. Also, reports were given at the meeting on the participation of the secretariat and of national mechanisms for the advancement of women in meetings of interest to the Presiding Officers and was discuss the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and the Sustainable Development Goals and their coordination with the global and regional agenda on gender equality and women’s autonomy.
