Eighth Global Conference on Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) - Data without barriers
The eighth Global Conference on Statistical Data and Metadata Exchange (SDMX) will be held virtually, from 27-30 September 2021. The Conference is organized by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI) in close collaboration with the seven sponsoring organizations of this initiative: the Bank for International Settlements (BIS), the European Central Bank (ECB), Eurostat (Statistical Office of the European Union), the International Monetary Fund (IMF), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Statistical Division (UNSD), and the World Bank.
This Global Conference is a bi-annual event for the community to share information on recent and upcoming SDMX developments. The target audience will include compilers and users of official statistics including national and international agencies, academia, and the private sector. The theme of the conference is “Data without barriers”. It will showcase how SDMX can help national and international agencies to simplify, strengthen, and modernize data and metadata exchange. In addition, SDMX 3.0, a new version of the standard, will be officially launched.
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), through its Statistics Division, will participate in Panel Discussion on Capacity Building, which will focus on training needs of organizations that aspire to implement this standard and how these needs can be addressed by the SDMX community.
Particularly, SDMX Sponsor agencies encourage participation of
- Managers of data-producing agencies interested in how SDMX can help raise the efficiency of statistical business processes.
- Hands-on data practitioners who would like to learn how SDMX could help with day-to-day tasks or looking to improve their knowledge of the standard.
- Researchers who need to consume and analyze statistical data.
- Private sector companies interested in development commercial SDMX products.
Between September 20-23, 2021, as in previous opportunities, will also offer training sessions to build and enhance the technical capacity of organizations using SDMX. The program of training sessions can be downloaded at this link.
The Conference is open to the public. Anyone interested in participating in the event is requested to complete the on-line registration form.
