La Unidad de Comercio Internacional e Industria promueve el diseño de políticas que originen una mayor igualdad y aprovechamiento de las oportunidades que ofrece el comercio internacional, tanto entre los países como entre los distintos actores económicos al interior de un país. Las áreas de investigación de la unidad incluyen: comercio internacional y desarrollo, competitividad e inserción internacional, integración regional, política industrial y fortalecimiento del sector productivo e innovación y cambio tecnológico.
