NDC LAC presentation 2026

Within the framework of the webinar “COP30 Outcomes: Implications for Private Sector Climate Action”, ECLAC presented the regional digital platform NDC-LAC, which consolidates key information to track the climate commitments of countries in Latin America and the Caribbean. The platform provides stakeholders with data on emissions profiles, greenhouse gas emission reduction targets submitted through countries’ NDCs, priority sectors for climate action in both mitigation and adaptation, as well as other indicators and resources relevant for public and private sector decision-making.

The webinar addressed the main outcomes of COP30 and their relevance for the private sector, underscoring the role of businesses in implementing Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs). In this context, NDC-LAC was presented as a strategic tool to enhance transparency and facilitate monitoring of NDC 3.0, Biennial Transparency Reports (BTRs), National Adaptation Plans (NAPs) and Long-Term Low Emission Development Strategies (LT-LEDS).

The presentation also highlighted the importance of climate finance and the role of the private sector. In 2023, more than half of climate finance in Latin America and the Caribbean was mobilized by private actors, reinforcing the need for clear and accessible information to guide investments aligned with national and regional climate objectives.

The platform is a joint initiative of Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, the EUROCLIMA Programme of the European Union, the Inter-American Development Bank, the United Nations Development Programme, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit and the LEDS LAC Platform. It aims to strengthen transparency, foster regional synergies and support the implementation of the Paris Agreement. The NDC-LAC platform is available at the following link: NDC-LAC.

The webinar was organized by the ArticuLAC Community of Practice, an initiative of the EUROCLIMA Programme, co-financed by the European Union and the Federal Government of Germany, and implemented by GIZ, the LEDS LAC Platform and the INCAE Business School CLACDS.
