How to Prepare for the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development 2026

From 13 to 16 April 2026, Santiago, Chile, will host the Ninth Meeting of the Forum of the Countries of Latin America and the Caribbean on Sustainable Development, an annual space for dialogue and exchange aimed at assessing and strengthening the implementation of the 2030 Agenda and its Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) across the region.

The regional forum, organized under the auspices of the United Nations Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), serves as the main intergovernmental mechanism for monitoring and reviewing the progress made by Latin American and Caribbean countries in fulfilling their commitments to the 2030 Agenda. Open to governments, civil society, academia, and the private sector, it promotes the exchange of experiences, best practices, and cooperation.

For the 2026 edition, the Forum will align its discussions with the priorities of the global sustainable development review process and will place a special focus on assessing progress on five Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDG 6, on clean water and sanitation; SDG 7, related to affordable and clean energy; SDG 9, focused on industry, innovation, and infrastructure; SDG 11, aimed at sustainable cities and communities; and SDG 17, which addresses the strengthening of partnerships for sustainable development.
