Teaser
The side event “What Can We Do Today for a More Inclusive, Productive, and Sustainable Future?”, co-organized by the Parliamentary Observatory on Climate Change and Just Transition (OPCC) and the CIPÓ Platform at COP30, will foster a high-level dialogue on the role of legislative frameworks and public policies in promoting green and inclusive productive development in Latin America and the Caribbean, with emphasis on the recent experiences of Brazil and Mexico. Both countries have advanced innovative policies such as Nova Indústria Brasil, the Ecological Transformation Plan, and the Plan México, which integrate sustainability, reindustrialization, and shared prosperity, shaping a new competitive economic paradigm based on ecological principles.
The discussion will address how the region can seize this historic window of opportunity to consolidate a Big Push for Sustainability, mobilizing transformative investments in strategic sectors such as renewable energy, bioeconomy, sustainable agriculture, and technological innovation. Parliamentarians and government representatives from Brazil and Mexico will debate the challenges and opportunities involved in designing regulatory frameworks and policies that promote sustainable value chains, green job creation, and the reduction of inequalities, thus advancing a more inclusive, productive, and sustainable future for Latin America and the Caribbean.
