The Second meeting of the Presiding Officers of the Regional Conference on Population and Development in Latin America and the Caribbean was held at ECLAC headquarters in Santiago from 24 to 26 June 2015. The Presiding Officers serve as a link between the governments of member States and ECLAC Secretariat, in order to provide regional follow-up on issues related to population and development such as ageing, international migration, indigenous peoples and Afro-descendants, among others.

This Second meeting of the Presiding Officers was held in follow-up to what was agreed at the First meeting of the Presiding Officers. The purpose of the meeting was to define the Operational guide for implementation and follow-up of the Montevideo Consensus on Population and Development, to be presented at the Second Meeting of the Regional Conference, to be held in Mexico from 6 to 9 October 2015.
In addition, the Second meeting of the Presiding Officers also reported on the preparations for the Second session of the Regional Conference on Population and Development, the activities of the Secretariat in support of the Presiding Officers, the global process of post-2015 development agenda as well as the global process of follow-up to the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD) beyond 2014.
