Press Release
The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will release its annual report International Trade Outlook for Latin America and the Caribbean 2024: Reconfiguration of global trade and options for regional recovery next Wednesday, October 23. In this report, ECLAC examines the evolution of foreign trade in the region’s economies during the first half of this year and presents its projections for the full year’s exports and imports of goods and services.
This edition of the document consists of three chapters: the first analyzes the recent context for trade and its prospects at a global and regional level; the second addresses the links between trade and food security in the region; and the third examines the potential of services to energize exports from Latin America and the Caribbean. According to the report, the region’s goods exports will rebound in 2024 after falling slightly in 2023, while services exports will experience a fourth straight year of growth at double-digit rates.
This report, which is prepared each year by ECLAC’s International Trade and Integration Division, will be presented during a hybrid press conference (in-person and virtual) at the organization’s central headquarters in Santiago, Chile at 11:00 a.m. local time (UTC/GMT -3:00), led by the Commission’s Executive Secretary, José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs.
