The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) will present on Tuesday, December 16 its annual flagship report Preliminary Overview of the Economies of Latin America and the Caribbean 2025, in which it examines the behavior of the region’s economies over the current year and updates estimates for growth and other economic indicators in 2025 and 2026.

Specifically, the document will present new Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth estimates for the region and all of its countries in 2025 and 2026. In this edition, the report analyzes the economic and social dynamics of the year that is about to end and discusses the policy risks and challenges that the Latin America and Caribbean region will face in 2026 for strengthening its resilience and moving forward towards a more inclusive and sustainable development.

The report will be unveiled at a hybrid (in-person and virtual) press conference led by José Manuel Salazar-Xirinachs, ECLAC’s Executive Secretary, at 11:00 a.m. local time in Chile (UTC/GMT -3:00).

According to the report, the growth estimates for 2025 and 2026 are influenced by geoeconomic uncertainty and weak internal activity. The specific outcomes for the region’s main economic indicators will be released by ECLAC at the press conference.
