ECLAC and FAO will present in Marrakech the Atlas of Migration in Northern Central America

The report, which analyzes the main characteristics of migration in the countries of the region, will be presented today at a press conference in the frame of the Intergovernmental Conference on the Global Compact for Migration.

The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), will be presenting today in Marrakech, a joint report entitled the Atlas of Migration in Northern Central American, from 3 p.m. local time (GMT +1) in the frame of the Intergovernmental Conference on the Global Compact for Migration.  

The report, which analyzes the main characteristics of migration in the countries of the region, will be presented today at a press conference led by Alicia Bárcena, Executive Secretary of ECLAC and Kostas Stamoulis, Assistant Director-General of the Economic and Social Development Department at FAO.

The launch of the report will be broadcast directly online on the website of the United Nations (http://webtv.un.org).

The Atlas assembles and systematizes the best available statistical data in order to contribute to the characterization of migration patterns in the countries of Northern Central America, with the objective of supporting the design of policies, programs and different forms of action to advance safe, orderly and regular migration in the Latin America and Caribbean Region.

The organizers invite media representatives to participate in the report launch, which will take place in the press briefing room of the Conference on the Global Compact for Migration, in Marrakech.
