The open-ended ad hoc working group on human rights defenders in environmental matters will hold a virtual meeting on Tuesday, 9 September, from 12:00 to 13:30 hrs, Chile time (GMT-3). The meeting is open to all members of the public.
The objective of the meeting will be to address the elaboration of the regional assessment of the Action Plan on Human Rights Defenders in Environmental Matters and to collect the impressions of the Parties and the public.

Decision III/2, which approves the Action Plan, establishes in Axis A on Knowledge Generation that “an assessment of the situation of individuals, groups, and organizations that promote and defend human rights in environmental matters in the States Parties” should be prepared.
Objectives of the meeting:
- Present the methodological design for the regional assessment of the situation of individuals, groups, and organizations promoting and defending human rights in environmental matters included in the Plan of Action and receive feedback from the Parties and the public.
- Present the participatory mechanism for collecting data and inputs, and learn about the next steps in the process.
