Summoned in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, on July 29, the meeting aims to analyze the activities of the United Nations System agencies to achieve the advancement of women in Latin America and the Caribbean, and to prepare the XIII Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean.

The Twenty-second Meeting of the Specialized Agencies and Other United Nations System Organizations on the Advancement of Women in Latin America and the Caribbean will be held on July 29th, 2015, in the city of Santo Domingo. Its goals are to analyze the entities’ efforts to move forward in the advancement of women in Latin America and the Caribbean following the XII Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean, carried out in Santo Domingo in 2013, and to develop the process towards the XIII Regional Conference, to be held in Montevideo in 2016. Furthermore, at this occasion advances with regard to the Gender Equality Observatory for Latin America and the Caribbean will be presented.

This invitation stems from the mandates of the Regional Action Plan, approved in the First Regional Conference on the Integration of Women into the Economic and Social Development of Latin America, celebrated in La Habana in 1977, and the agreements of the Coordination Meeting of United Nations Organisms for the Region of Latin America, held on May 6, 1999 in Santiago de Chile.
