Third Ministerial conference on the Information Society in Latin America and the Caribbean

Por el Perú asistieron: la viceministra de Comunicaciones, El jefe de la Oficina Nacional de Gobierno Electrónico e Informática de la Presidencia del Consejo de Ministros, el presidente del Organismo Regulador de las Telecomunicaciones OSIPTEL, el Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores y ALFA REDI en representación de la Sociedad Civil.

La Secretaría Ejecutiva de la CEPAL manifestó que el tema de la Sociedad de la Información y la Tercera Reunión  Ministerial de la Sociedad de la Información de América Latina y el Caribe son de especial relevancia para la CEPAL, que viene trabajando entre 7 y 8 años fomentando el diálogo global convocando a las instituciones gubernamentales, no gubernamentales, sector académico y al sector privado.

Los lineamientos principales de la nueva propuesta de plan eLAC2015, cuya secretaría técnica está a cargo de la CEPAL, apuntan a que la región dé un salto hacia la universalización del acceso a banda ancha de alta calidad y la incorporación de las TIC en las actividades productivas, los servicios públicos, la educación y la salud.

En esta conferencia la CEPAL presentó tres documentos que examinan los siguientes temas:

• Análisis de los avances de la implementación del plan de acción regional entre 2008 y 2010.
• La dinámica de la penetración de la banda ancha en la región y propuestas de políticas para universalizar su acceso.
• Un modelo integral de políticas públicas para la sociedad de la información en la región.
