The Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), in partnership with OLACDE, is co-organizing the side event ‘Energy for a Just Transition: Challenges and Responses to Energy Poverty’ as part of the XI Energy Week, to be held October 6th–9th, 2026, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. This meeting will promote the exchange of progress and experiences to strengthen the measurement of energy poverty and its integration into public policies, contributing to the development of a regional agenda with comparable approaches and improved information systems.

In addition, this side event will serve as a prelude to the First Regional Dialogue on Energy Poverty, to be held in Brazil on November 30th and December 1st, 2026. The First Regional Dialogue aims to strengthen cooperation among countries and advance a regional agenda on this issue.

The 11th Energy Week is organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Energy Organization (OLACDE), with the Ministry of Energy and Mines of the Dominican Republic. It is also co-organized by the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), the World Bank, the European Union’s GET.Transform program, and the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
