Meeting of the Regional Coordinating Mechanism to consider integrating the Samoa Pathway into the sustainable development goals and post 2015 agenda
The Caribbean’s perspective on integrating the SIDS Accelerated Modalities for Action (SAMOA) Pathway into the Sustainable Development Goals and the Post 2015 Development Agenda will be discussed at an upcoming meeting in Castries, Saint Lucia, hosted jointly by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) subregional headquarters for the Caribbean and the Government of Saint Lucia.
This is the Seventh Meeting of the Technical Advisory Committee of the Regional Coordinating Mechanism (RCM) for the implementation of the SIDS Agenda and is scheduled for 29 April.
The RCM was established through a decision taken by governments and United Nations’ agencies in the Caribbean, with a mandate to co-ordinate activities to support implementation of the Barbados Programme of Action (BPOA), the Mauritius Strategy for the further implementation of the Programme of Action for Small Island Developing States, and the SAMOA Pathway.
This week’s meeting follows on last year’s consideration of the sustainable development of SIDS, with focus on the SAMOA Pathway, which is the outcome document of the Apia, Samoa 3rd International Conference on SIDS, held in September 2014.
Representatives from regional organizations, policy makers and civil society groups are expected to attend.
