Seminar on "Advances of the Northern Triangle Customs Union: Impact and Benefits for the Region"

The seminar "Advances of the Northern Triangle Customs Union: Impact and Benefits for the Region" will take place in the city of San Salvador on March 29th. The event will include the participation of the Minister of Economy, Dr. Luz Estrella Rodríguez, as well as Mr. René Salazar, Director of Trade Policy. The event was conceived with the objective of publicizing the results of the study carried out by Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC): "Evaluation of the effects of the deepening of the Customs Union between the countries of the Northern Triangle". In addition to presenting the results for the subregion as a whole, Dr. José Durán Lima, Chief of the Regional Integration Unit of the Division of International Trade, Integration and Infrastructure of ECLAC, will present the results for the case of El Salvador. Additionally, complementary analyses on the importance of regional value chains will be presented to enhance the Customs Union process.

The purpose of the seminar is to inform the private sector, the academic community and civil society about the results of the work that ECLAC has developed in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, the Central Reserve Bank of El Salvador, as well as with the Ministry of Finance and the Secretariat of Central American Economic Integration (SIECA).
