Background
The Republic of Korea and the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) have cooperated since the establishment of CELAC in December 2011. Both organized an academic seminar with the support of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC). To explore strategies for economic cooperation in April 2016. Subsequently, two training workshops were organized to explore strategies to promote the internationalization of SMEs: the first in Santiago in December 2016. and the second in San Salvador in December 2017.
These activities, together with the publications "Exploring cooperation between the Republic of Korea and CELAC in the areas of innovation and internationalization strategies of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)" y and "Innovation and internationalization of SMEs in Korea and in Latin America and the Caribbean: policy experiences and areas for cooperation", have allowed the member countries of CELAC and the Republic of Korea to agree on a common vision on cooperation activities to promote the internationalization of SMEs in the region in the next years.
Goals
The objective of the CORPYME project is to strengthen the capacities of public policy makers and related government agencies to promote the internationalization of SMEs through a more intensive use of information and communication technologies (ICT) and paperless trade.
The two main activities of the project are:
- conduct a survey among CELAC members on the implementation of the electronic single window and paperless trade, using the Republic of Korea as a reference;
- organize the third training workshop on good practices in paperless commerce (digital) and electronic single window for technicians in charge of these issues.
