Migration interne

Available in: EnglishEspañolFrançaisPortuguês

Internal migration is a key component of spatial redistribution of the population, with implications for communities, households and individuals. For communities, migration has demographic, social, cultural and economic impacts. For households and individuals, migration —especially when it is part of a deliberate strategy— is a means to achieve objectives, ranging from coping with an economic crisis to improving quality of life. Population censuses are the main source of information about migration movements. CELADE-Population Division of ECLAC undertakes processing of census microdata, which is then disseminated through the MIALC database.
