From the outset, ECLAC has seen education as a vital link in reconciling growth, equity and participation in society. Education has become particularly relevant in recent years since, as a central pillar of the equality paradigm, it is both a way of reducing obstacles to the full exercise of the right to education and a cornerstone of processes of structural change based on capacity-building from the bottom up. The work of the Social Development Division therefore includes conducting research and building knowledge in this area.
