Economic and Social Council Youth Forum: Caribbean Region

8 Avril 2021|Évènement

The Caribbean Regional Table will take place on-line on April 8th, 2021, within the framework of the ECOSOC Youth Forum. Youth leaders from around the world will have the opportunity to engage with government representatives, youth delegates, policymakers and other relevant stakeholders in civil society and the private sector.

In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic caused the world to stop completely, but young people have not stood still. Throughout the world, young people have been taking a step forward in responding to the crisis with resilience, capacity to look for resources and leadership, in actions ranging from making an urgent call to climate action and peace, to addressing racial injustice and gender bias.

In this historic crusade in which the world is struggling to reinvent itself to meet the challenges of COVID-19, we need young people like you to share their vision and actions to recover from the pandemic and create a greener and fairer world.

The ECOSOC Youth Forum is the main event in which young people can make their contribution to policy discussions at the United Nations by sharing ideas, solutions and innovations.

The discussions of the 2021 Forum will be structured around the general theme of the 2021 High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development (HLPF): "A sustainable and resilient recovery of the COVID-19 pandemic, which promotes the economic, social and environmental dimensions of sustainable development: building an inclusive and effective path to achieving the 2030 Agenda within the context of the Decade of Action and achieving sustainable development".

The Forum will explore the views and solutions proposed by young people on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to be reviewed at the 2021 HLPF, such as 1 – End of Poverty, 2 – Zero Hunger, 3 – Good Health and Well-being, 8 – Decent Work and Economic Growth, 10 – Reduction of Inequalities, 12 – Responsible Production and Consumption, 13 - Climate Action , 16- Peace, justice and strong institutions and 17 – Alliances to achieve objectives.

On 8 April 2021, the Caribbean Regional Table will be developed within the framework of the Economic and Social Council Youth Forum (ECOSOC), which is a platform for dialogue between young world leaders and representatives of governments, policy-making and other partners in the private sector and civil society.
