The clock is ticking toward 2030… 

With it, the hope that the world would achieve the Sustainable Development Goals… the world’s commitment to ensure that every person could live with dignity, opportunity, security, while preserving the planet for future generations. 

Across the Caribbean, progress has slowed. Many of the goals have stalled or have gone backwards – they are in the “red zone”. Climate shocks are becoming more frequent and severe. Economic uncertainty is growing. Inequality continues to hold back opportunity, while rapid technological change risks leaving vulnerable countries even further behind.

The region is not standing still because it lacks ambition. Small island development is heavily impacted by what happens in the Global North. It is navigating a world that has become more uncertain, more fragmented and more unequal… Global crises, geopolitical tensions and structural vulnerabilities have made sustainable development more difficult than ever. Almost half of the SDGs are progressing too slowly – they are in the “orange zone”.

Every target achieved means healthier communities, stronger economies, safer coastlines, better education, greater equality and more resilient societies. Sustainable development is not an all-or-nothing destination. Every step forward improves lives and strengthens the Caribbean's future. The choices made today will determine whether the Caribbean enters the next decade better prepared for tomorrow's challenges.

That is why the Caribbean can't wait.
